Tyler WillettThe NUCA of DC Foundation for Education was launched in 2017 to support young leaders interested in the construction and utility excavation industries. The Scholarship Program supports our strategic goal of ensuring the continuing legacy of professionals in the utility construction workforce. NUCA of Metro DC annually awards two local academic scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2,500 each to rising high school seniors, current college, or graduate student, or vocational tech schools pursing a field of study relevant to the construction industry. Scholarship awardees are represented in all academic backgrounds.  A plus for those pursuing various careers in the utility construction/excavation industry.

Scholarships will be awarded to:
1. A rising high school senior, current college or graduate school student planning to attend a 2 -year or 4-year university full-time.

2. An individual who is attending or plans to attend an approved vocational/technical program.

3. Students that are employees, or immediate family members of an employee of a NUCA of DC member in good standing.

2025 NUCA DC Scholarship Application and Eligibility Requirements

DETAILS

All applicants must be current employees or the immediate family members (legal spouse or child) of a current employee of a NUCA of Metropolitan Washington DC member company in good standing at the time of application submission.  Directors of member companies are not considered employees and are not eligible.

2026 College Scholarship: Up to $2,500 Eligible applicant: Current High School senior or full-time college/graduate school student planning to attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year university as a full time student as of Fall 2026. The NUCA of Metro DC Scholarship Committee will consider applicant’s scholastic standing, ACT/SAT scores, extracurricular activities, career goals, past employment and/or leadership roles, essay, letters of recommendation.

2026 Vocational Technical Education Scholarship: Up to $2,500 Eligible Applicant: Anyone who is planning to attend a technical school or approved craft training program in any discipline of construction. Applicant MUST be enrolled or accepted into an approved accredited program and must pursue a degree, certification or credential in construction-related program scheduled to start between July and December 2026. The NUCA of Metro DC Scholarship Committee will consider applicant’s career goals, current and past employment and/or leadership roles, and letters of recommendation.
